Claimed by Two Car Mechanics

A 35-year-old consultant in Delhi argues with her father, takes his car, and fills it with the wrong fuel. At a roadside garage two mechanics offer the only way to fix it before evening. What begins as desperation becomes a precise, wordless exchange in a vinyl-furnished waiting room. Ishita pays in the only currency that will jump the queue, then drives home to the same quiet flat and the same unanswered questions. The car is ready by half past four. Everything else remains between her and the smell of petrol that will not wash out.
